Dhaka, Aug 11 (bdnews24.com) – The High Court on Monday quashed a case relating to a 2001 bomb blast in front of the Narayanganj Awami League office, in which 20 people died, asking police to reinvestigate.
Justices Syed Mohammad Dastagir Hossain and Quamrul Islam Siddiqui made the ruling after hearing on a petition by Nasim Osman, brother of ex-AL MP Shamim Osman.
One Abul Kalam, a betel leaf vendor, filed the case in 2002 against 58 AL leaders and supporters including Shamim Osman and Nasim Osman.
The court asked the Inspector General of Police to launch a reinvestigation into the incident.
Other cases are pending relating to the bomb blast on June 16 in 2001.
