Bandarban has been cut off from the rest of Bangladesh after landslides and floodwater disrupted road communication at several points following days of heavy rain.

According to the Roads and Highways Department (RHD), traffic between Bandarban and Cox's Bazar, Chattogram and Dhaka has remained suspended since Saturday morning.

The disruption was caused by inundated roads and fallen trees in the Bajalia area of Chattogram's Satkania Upazila, it said.

Vehicular movement from Bandarban town to Rangamati, the Bangal Halia-Chandraghona route, and the Rowangchhari, Ruma, and Thanchi Upazilas has also been completely suspended.

Meanwhile, the Bridgeghat Bridge collapsed due to the strong flow of floodwater after part of a rubber dam on the Bandarban-Rangamati road had been damaged on Friday night.
