TikTok personality Abdullah Al Mamun, popularly known as Prince Mamun, has surrendered to a court and received bail in a rape case filed against him at the Dhaka Cantonment Police Station.

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-9 Judge Sabera Sultana Khanam issued the order after a hearing on Tuesday, according to the plaintiff’s lawyer Israt Jahan.

After hearing from both sides, the court Mamun bail. It also took into account the charges and indicted Mamun.

The case was filed by a woman at the Dhaka Cantonment Police Station on Jun 9. Mamun was then arrested and brought to court on Jun 11. After the hearing, the court rejected both the bail petition and the remand petition in the case and sent Mamun to jail. He was subsequently released from jail on Jul 1.

Sub-Inspector Muhammad Shahjahan of the Cantonment Police Station, the investigating officer in the case, filed the chargesheet in the case against Mamun on Sept 26.

The chargesheet states that Mamun is a popular personality on the social media video site TikTok. The plaintiff in the case, Laila Akhter Farhad, is also a well-known personality on Facebook.

Laila is married, but as she is not on good terms with her husband and lives with her children in a separate apartment, it said.

The case dossier says the two of them met through social media and he expressed his interest in working with her to the media. They began meeting in the first half of 2022 and eventually developed a romantic relationship. As their relationship deepened, Mamun began living with her. The two had an illicit relationship and Mamun allegedly raped her after promising marriage. As their relationship developed further, Mamun began keeping his ID, national ID, passport, and other important documents at her address. In order to gain her trust, they began living in an apartment as husband and wife. He also allegedly raped her multiple times during this period.

The chargesheet says that an initial investigation found that Mamun had committed an offence under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
