Britain has proposed cooperation with Bangladesh in technical education and training, while also signalling stronger trade and investment ties with the country.
British High Commissioner in Dhaka Sarah Cook made the proposal during a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at his office in the parliament complex on Thursday.
She also expressed hope that relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom would deepen further under the current government.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, discussions also covered ways to expand bilateral trade and increase British investment in Bangladesh, which is expected to create new employment opportunities.
The high commissioner also expressed interest in British investment in the aviation sector following the opening of the third terminal of Shahjalal International Airport.
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humaiun Kobir were present during the meeting.
