A bus has run over and killed two riders of a motorbike after they were knocked down by a swerving battery-run autorickshaw in a three-way accident in Dhaka's Banasree.

Witnesses said an autorickshaw rammed into the two-wheeler on the slow-moving road packed with vehicles and the victims fell under the wheels of the bus.

The deceased are Abdullah Al Noman, 21, an eleventh-grade student of Government Murapara College in Narayanganj and Pavel Mia, 20, of the city’s Rupganj.

Khilgaon Police Station chief Daud Hossain said the bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

"We are investigating the matter and trying to gather video footage from the scene."

Referring to the witnesses, he said: "The driver of the motorcycle lost control and fell on the road after being knocked down by the autorickshaw. A Miami Paribahan bus later ran them over, leaving Abdullah dead on the spot.

“The pillion rider, Pavel, was declared dead by the doctor after being taken to Farazy Hospital with critical injuries.”
