A moving passenger bus has caught fire in Bogura’s Shahjahanpur Upazila, but all passengers have managed to get off quickly and escape unharmed.

The incident occurred around 8am on Sunday on the highway’s C Block, according to Shahjahanpur Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Police said a section of the bus was charred in the fire. The exact number of passengers on board could not be confirmed immediately.

Ariful Islam said a bus from “Kurigram Travel”, travelling from Chattogram to Kurigram, suddenly caught fire on the way.

Firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after about 30 minutes of effort.

He said the fire is initially believed to have started from the bus’s battery.
