Rajshahi, June 4 (BDNEWS) – New Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor have been appointed in Rajshahi University.
Former Pro-Vice Chancellor and professor of Zoology Department Dr Altaf Hossain has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University while teacher of Applied Physics Department and former general secretary of Teachers' Association Mamnunul Keramat has been appointed as the Pro-Vice Chancellor.
Concerned sources said that the Education Ministry informed the present Vice Chancellor Dr Faisul Islam Faruqi about the appointment after Saturday evening. Dr Faruqi called the newly appointed VC Altaf Hossain and informed him about it. He also congratulated Altaf Hossain on being appointed as the new VC.
The newly appointed VC Dr Altaf Hossain told the journalists he was informed about it by the current VC. But the Education Ministry did not inform him anything about it till then (8:30 pm).
But Dr Faruqi said that the Education Ministry informed him about the appointment of the new VC. He hoped that the newly appointed VC would try his best to run the University properly.
Prof Faruqi has been appointed as a member of the University Grants Commission while outgoing Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Shahadat Hossain has been appointed as a member of the Public Service Commission.
The appointment ended the on-going controversy regarding the appointment of Vice Chancellor.
The newly appointed Vice Chancellor Dr Altaf Hossain was the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University back in 1995.
