Dhaka, August 28 (BDNEWS) – Dhaka bypass highway and Kanchan Bridge will be opened by the month of December of the current year to mitigate the traffic congestion in the capital.
It was disclosed at an inter-ministerial meeting at the conference room of the communications ministry on Sunday with the minister Barrister Nazmul Huda in the chair.
The meeting was called to build up countrywide road network and bridge infrastructure and to implement development projects in the transport sector.
The meeting was told, the land acquisition would be completed by the year end for constructing 6.01 km long Padma Bridge at Mawa-Jinjira point at an estimated cost of Tk 7,500 crore.
The meeting decided to impose a ban on building new structures, houses, shops, mills and factories and business establishments on the project site for rapid and smooth progress of the project works.
Each entry point of the three main entrances of the Dhaka city will have eight lanes to raise the city to the international standard, the meeting was told.
