The maritime ports have been asked to keep hoisted Local Signal No. 4.
Under the influence of the deep depression, the southern part of the country is experiencing gusty or squally winds with heavy to very heavy falls, Meteorological Department said in its special weather bulletin issued on Saturday midnight.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kilometres of the depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts or squalls. The sea will remain very rough near the centre of depression.
All inland water transport services have been ordered to suspend operations until further notice.
Sunday's Junior School Certificate (JSC) tests in coastal Barisal division and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations across the country have been postponed due to bad weather.
"It is likely to move in a northeasterly direction further and may cross Barisal-Chittagong coast by morning of today (06 November 2016)," it said.
The coastal districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Borguna, Patuakhali, Barisal, Bhola, Pirozpur, Jhalokathi, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and shoals are likely to experience wind speed up to 50-60 kph in gusts or squalls with heavy to very heavy falls during the passage of the deep depression.
Under the influence of the deep depression, the low-lying areas of the coastal districts and their offshore islands and shoals are likely to be inundated by wind driven surge of 2-3 feet height above normal astronomical tide.
All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.
