3 held as Coast Guard seizes 220 sacks of 'Myanmar-bound' fertiliser in Chattogram

The Coast Guard has seized 220 sacks of fertiliser in Chattogram that were allegedly being smuggled to Myanmar. Three people have been detained in connection with the alleged smuggling attempt.

The seizure was made in the Dabirkhal area of Halishahar on Wednesday, according to a Coast Guard statement.

Coast Guard personnel intercepted the suspects as the fertiliser was being transferred from a truck to a fishing trawler in Dabirkhal, the statement said.

They seized 220 sacks of fertiliser from the truck and trawler. The seized fertiliser weighed around 11 tonnes.

A case has been filed with Halishahar Police Station over the incident.
