Satya Prasad Majumder, the vice chancellor of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, has stepped down from his position.

He tendered his resignation letter on Sunday to the secretary of the university chancellor and the education secretary.

Mohammad Al Amin Siddik, the director of the BUET Directorate of Students’ Welfare, or DSW, confirmed this resignation to bdnews24.com.

In his resignation letter, Satya Prasad wrote, "I have collaborated with teachers, students, officers, and employees to enhance the university's education and research, as well as to uphold the reputation of BUET.

"I have now resigned from the position of vice chancellor of BUET due to personal reasons," he added.

Satya Prasad, a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, was appointed as the vice-chancellor of BUET on Jun 25, 2020.

On Jul 3 he was reappointed for a second term. However, he had to resign amid student demands following the change of power after the mass uprising.
