EC greenlights action plan for general election, announcement soon

The Election Commission (EC) has approved its action plan for the upcoming 13th national election, with a formal announcement expected soon.

The approval came during a meeting at the EC headquarters in Agargaon attended by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin and the four other commissioners on Wednesday.

“Everything in the action plan has been finalised. Approval has been given. Now it is just being typed,” said Election Commissioner Md Anwarul Islam Sarker.

The roadmap includes finalising constituency boundaries, registering political parties and observers, reforming election laws, issuing codes of conduct, and preparing updated voter lists.

Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus had previously announced that the election would be held before Ramadan in February next year, with the EC expected to announce the schedule in early December.
