Heavy rain topples tree onto three parked cars in Dhanmondi

Heavy rain has brought down a large tree near Abahani field in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi, damaging three parked cars.

The incident occurred around 7:30pm on Monday as torrential rain lashed the area, blocking traffic on the road.

Dhanmondi Police chief Imdadul Islam said an old tree on the road at 12/A Madhya Crossing near Abahani Field fell onto the three cars parked by the roadside.

“No one was inside the vehicles,” he said, adding that there were no reports of injuries.

Imdadul said heavy rain had been falling before the tree came down. The Fire Service and Civil Defence was called to clear the road.

Abdul Khalek, a Fire Service worker, said a team had gone to the scene after receiving the report to remove the fallen tree.
