Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived in Kishoreganj for a series of programmes in the district as part of a day-long visit.

Tarique reached Pakundia around 11:30am on Sunday, Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said.

After arriving, the prime minister released fish fry into the Brahmaputra River at the Mirzapur Chairman Bari Ghat area.

His motorcade had left his Gulshan residence in Dhaka at 9:15am.

Ruman said hundreds of party leaders and activists, along with children and women, lined both sides of the road along the route to Kishoreganj to greet the prime minister.

Tarique smiled and waved back at the crowds, he added.

After completing the Pakundia programme, the prime minister is scheduled to visit the Katiadi Carp Hatchery Complex.

He will later inaugurate National Fisheries Fortnight 2026 programme and distribute the National Fisheries Awards at the Achmita George Institute grounds.

Tarique is also scheduled to attend a tree-planting event at the Sholakia grounds and distribute Family Cards at Kishoreganj Stadium.
