Local Government, Rural Development and Co‑operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has emphasised the need for collective efforts by individuals, society and the state to build a successful nation.

Speaking at a views‑exchange meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday, Fakhrul said: “For a successful state, it is extremely urgent that we all work in unity. The three tiers – individual, society and state – are deeply interlinked.”

He urged people to set aside divisions and work as a team to achieve development, good governance and a just society.

Highlighting economic and institutional challenges, Fakhrul noted: “We must remember that we are working to implement the prime minister’s vision and plans against the backdrop of a devastated economy and state system.”

On accountability, he said: “We run on taxpayers’ money, so ensuring accountability to the people is a moral responsibility.”

The minister added that state institutions had weakened over the past 15 years, but the government had taken initiatives to revive and strengthen them.

“Strengthening institutions means not just fixing administrative structures, but restoring public trust,” he said.

Fakhrul also pointed to rural hardship, saying employment creation was under way to ease suffering.

Improving law and order and tackling corruption were listed as government priorities.

State Minister Mir Shahe Alam said the ministry was directly connected to ordinary people and stressed collective efforts to build a corruption‑free state.

He described the election manifesto and 31‑point programme as a social contract with citizens that must be implemented responsibly.
