Anti-discrimination Student Movement Convenor Hasnat Abdullah and July Shaheed Memorial Foundation General Secretary Sarjis Alam have taken to Facebook suggesting that the collision of a truck with a car in their convoy in Chattogram was a ‘murder attempt’.
The two leaders of the mass uprising posted the same message on Facebook on Wednesday night.
“Trying to kill us? You can’t. We are the successors of Abrar and Alif. Remember – martyrs do not die.”
A truck crashed into a car in Hasnat and Sarjis's convoy on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway at 7:30pm as they left the funeral prayers of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chattogram.
The front of the car was damaged when it was hit by the truck, but no one was injured. The truck driver and his assistant were detained. Afterwards, the Anti-discrimination Student Movement leaders left for Chattogram.
Members of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens’ Committee held protests on the Dhaka University campus at night, claiming that there was an attempt to kill the two leaders in a truck attack.
The two groups conducted separate marches at 11pm before coming together at the TSC. There they demanded the arrest of those involved in the incident.
