Dhaka College students opposing central university block Science Lab intersection

Police say the demonstration began around 10:30am on Monday

A group of Dhaka College students have blocked the Science Laboratory intersection to press for the repeal of the Dhaka Central University ordinance.

New Market Police Station chief AKM Mahfuzul Haque said the demonstration began around 10:30am on Monday when higher secondary students of the college gathered at the busy intersection.

“The students are protesting, demanding that the ordinance be withdrawn. Their presence has disrupted traffic in the surrounding areas,” Mahfuzul said.

Police are trying to persuade the students to leave the road and ease congestion, he added.
