The Chhatra Shakti has demanded the resignation of Home Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury over the failure to arrest the attackers of Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi amid what it says is “deterioration of public security”.

They took out the rally from the Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka at 5pm on Thursday, during which leaders and activists raised different slogans.

At the end of the rally, they burnt an effigy of the home advisor.

Chhatra Shakti President Zahid Ahsan said, “Hadi’s [shooter] must be arrested and Sheikh Hasina would face trial in Bangladesh, but not under Jahangir.

“We are not demanding any arrest under Jahangir, as he is unfit for the post. No demands can be made to an irresponsible home advisor.”

He said an “absentee funeral” will be held for Jahangir on Dec 19 after Asr prayers.
