Bangladesh condoles Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s death, lauds her leadership

Bangladesh has expressed deep condolences on the death of India’s Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayaram Jayalalithaa.

She died on Monday at a hospital aged 68.
 
Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali signed the condolence book opened at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday, the foreign ministry said.
 
He lauded her leadership.
 

“We express our deep condolences on the sad demise of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Selvi J Jayalalithaa. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Tamil Nadu at this hour of grief,” read the message the foreign minister wrote in the book.
“Jayalalithaaji was a leader of common people, she worked for the welfare of the poor, women and marginalized of the society.
“Her passing away will leave a void in the politics of Tamil Nadu. She will always be remembered as the people’s “Amma” in Tamil Nadu,” Mahmood Ali noted.
“We pray for the departed soul. May the people of Tamil Nadu and India have the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the message read.
