Ahmed told mediapersons after a Saturday workshop in a Dhaka hotel that expectations of justice in the Felani case have been belied. But he was quick to add – “the trial has been done within the ambit of Indian law”.
“I think if there is scope of appeal against the verdict of the BSF court, it should be considered.”
“I am not exactly aware of Indian law, specially what happens if the trial is in a forces court. But the next step should be taken after considering all the legal options,” Ahmed said.
He lashed out at ‘killing of innocents’ on the border, insisting that both countries should take appropriate measures to stop it.
When asked about the government’s reaction, Ahmed said that not only Felani’s family but also the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) had been involved in the trial.
