The government has appointed new deputy commissioners (DCs) in two districts, expanding a series of administrative reshuffles across Bangladesh.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued two separate orders on Wednesday, appointing Md Mazharul Islam, director at the Department of Narcotics Control, as the DC and district magistrate of Faridpur, while Md Farida Yesmin, a deputy secretary at the ministry, has been posted to Sherpur in the same role.
According to the orders, the appointments will take immediate effect in the public interest.
Earlier on the same day, the government also appointed Home Ministry Deputy Secretary Farida Khanom as the new DC of Dhaka, continuing a broader restructuring of field administration posts.
The changes come as the BNP government moves ahead with widespread reshuffles across state institutions, law-enforcing agencies and administrative offices.
In March, authorities also carried out two rounds of transfers involving 16 district administrators.
