The engine of a freight train has broken down in Tangail’s Bhuiyanpur Upazila, leading to a suspension of train service from Dhaka to the north of Bangladesh.
The incident occurred on the east end of a bridge about 1km away from the Ibrahimabad Railway Station around 4pm on Saturday, according to Nazmul Hasan, station master at Tangail’s Gharinda.
The train was headed from the station to the east end of the bridge when the engine broke down and ground the locomotive to a halt, he said.
A rescue train from Lalmonirhat will come and conduct repairs on the engine, the station master said.
