The Anti-Corruption Commission has appointed Sajjad Hossain, who was investigating the money laundering charges against Shakib Al Hasan, to lead the inquiry into the cricketer’s alleged illegal assets.

Earlier, Mahbubul Alam, the ACC's deputy director, was responsible for investigating the charges related to Shakib’s “illegal wealth”.

On Sept 4, the commission temporarily suspended Mahbubul from the investigation.

Speaking about the changes, ACC’s Deputy Director and Public Relations Officer Akhtarul Islam said on Monday, “When a new allegation arises against an individual who is already under investigation for a previous case, it is a normal process to merge the new inquiry with the existing one.”
