The Appellate Division has upheld bail granted to former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Salina Hayat Ivy in two cases filed with Siddhirganj Police.

Chamber Judge Justice Md Rezaul Haque passed the order on Sunday.

Following the decision, Ivy now has bail upheld in a total of 12 cases, leaving no legal obstacle to her release, according to her lawyer Motahar Hossain Saju.

Speaking after the hearing, Saju said: “The High Court had earlier issued a rule so that she is not subjected to further harassment.”

On May 10, the Appellate Division, led by the chief justice, upheld the High Court’s bail order in 10 separate cases, including murder charges linked to the July Uprising.

After the High Court granted bail in those cases, Ivy was shown arrested in two additional cases. The High Court later granted her bail in those cases on Apr 30.
