Officials ordered to monitor local power supply throughout Eid holidays

They are required to monitor electricity conditions from their respective stations

Senior officials of the Power Division and subordinate agencies have been directed to keep close watch on local electricity conditions during Eid-ul-Azha to ensure uninterrupted supply.

The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources issued the directive on Tuesday, requiring relevant officials to inspect the local power situation on the ground during the Eid holidays and give necessary instructions to field teams.

After their inspections, the officials must send a detailed report on the matter to the power secretary.

The ministry also asked authorities to inform consumers in advance about scheduled maintenance or unexpected outages to reduce public inconvenience.

Local distribution centres have been directed to use loudspeaker announcements and social media platforms for public updates.

Information is also to be shared through mosque Imams and Muazzins, with their contact details submitted to the ministry and uploaded on utility websites.

The ministry said shops and shopping malls can remain open until 10pm for Eid under the current guidelines.

After the festival, they are expected to close by 7pm as part of energy-saving measures.

The Power Division said coordinated efforts among all stakeholders are expected to help maintain a stable electricity supply across the country during the holiday season.
