Gas pressure in Dhaka has gotten “extremely low” after a cargo trawler’s anchor damaged a gas distribution pipeline under the Turag River in the capital’s Aminbazar area, according to Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC.

In a press release published on its Facebook page on Friday, the gas supplier said: "Although the gas distribution pipeline under the Turag River in Aminbazar that was damaged after it was hit by an anchor has been repaired, water entered the pipe during the repair process. Also, the gas supply to Dhaka city is low, leading to extremely low gas pressure in Dhaka."

Titas Gas authorities apologised for the inconvenience caused to customers, saying that efforts are being made to resolve the low gas pressure issue.
