545 bottles of Indian liquor seized at Sherpur border, man arrested

The market value of the seized liquor and the vehicle stands at Tk 2.3 million

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested a drug dealer carrying different types of Indian liquor during a raid in the Jhenaigati border area of Sherpur.

On Sunday, based on a tip-off, a team led by Nayek Nazmul of the Karnajhora Border Outpost of the 39th BGB conducted the raid on the Dudhnai-Dhanshail road in the Guru Charan Dudhnai area of Kangsha Union.

Nayek Subedar Saidur Rahman, in-charge of the Karnajhora BOP, said that arrestee 36-year-old Akash hails from the Tatihati area of Sribardi Upazila.

He said, "Akash was arrested in the operation along with a yellow pickup van filled with 545 bottles of Indian liquor."

Nayek Nazmul said that he has filed a case under the Narcotics Act at Jhenaigati Police Station over the incident. Detainee Akash has been handed over to the police.

Jhenaigati Police Station chief Aminul Islam also confirmed the filing of the case.
