Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has begun his China visit after arriving in the northeastern city of Dalian following a trip to Malaysia.
He reached Dalian’s Zhoushuizi International Airport around 10:45pm local time on Monday, according to the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
He told bdnews24.com that Liaoning Province Vice-Governor Bai Yang, Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen, and Bangladesh Ambassador to China Mohammad Nazmul Islam received the prime minister at the airport.
From the airport, Tarique was taken to his hotel in a motorcade, Ruman said.
He will attend the World Economic Forum summit in Dalian, also known as the Summer Davos, and is scheduled to begin a bilateral visit to Beijing from Jun 24 to 26.
According to the itinerary, the prime minister is set to meet the president and chief executive officer of the World Economic Forum on Jun 23.
Later that day, he will speak as the chief guest at a session titled “Climate Leadership in a Shifting Global Landscape” at the forum.
He is also expected to attend several other events during the visit.
On Tuesday evening, he will attend a dinner hosted by Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
On Wednesday morning, he is scheduled to meet the prime minister of Kazakhstan, followed by other engagements.
Later that day, he will travel to Beijing by train in the afternoon.
