National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has accused a “political party” in Bangladesh of taking on “the role of Awami League”.
He made these remarks while attending an election rally of the candidate for the Dhaka-10 constituency of Jamaat-e-Islami on Friday.
Referring to the BNP, he said: “A party in post-revolutionary Bangladesh has presented itself before the nation in the role of Awami League.
“The elements of the oppression that we saw in post-revolutionary Bangladesh in the past 17 years are visible in a party.”
Asif said, “The nation is fed up with the corruption, terrorism, and extortion of their leaders and activists.
“This election will determine whether corruption, terrorism, extortion, disappearances and murder will continue in the future Bangladesh.”
Speaking at Dhanmondi’s Rabindra Sarobar in the afternoon, he said: “I believe that the people of Dhaka-10 constituency will not accept or accept any more terrorist, extortionist or corrupt leadership.
“If the 10-party alliance wins, good governance will be ensured.”
Jamaat Central Working Committee member Jasim Uddin Sarkar has been nominated as a candidate for the Dhaka-10 constituency.
Asif urged local voters to support him with a clear majority.
