A fire that broke out at an Apex footwear showroom in Dhaka's Dhanmondi has been brought under control after two hours of firefighting.
The fire broke out around 10am on Thursday at the six-storey building on Road 27, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Fire Service spokesperson Abu Talha Bin Zasim said six units were deployed to fight the blaze and brought it under control at noon.
He said the Fire Service received the report of the fire at 10:05am, and two units from Mohammadpur Fire Station reached the scene within 10 minutes and began firefighting.
Four more units later joined the operation, he said.
Traffic Inspector Rafiqul Islam, who was deployed to manage traffic on Road 27, said one side of the road was closed after the fire broke out.
"We closed one side of the road when the fire broke out around 9:45am," he said.
The entire six-storey building is used as an Apex showroom.
