Fog halts ferry crossings on Paturia–Daulatdia route, two vessels stranded mid-river

Ferry services on the Paturia route in Manikganj and the Daulatdia route in Rajbari have been suspended due to dense fog.

The suspension has been in effect since around 3am on Friday, said Md Abdus Salam, acting deputy general manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC).

He said the fog began to thicken after 2:30am, significantly reducing visibility on the river.

“At that time, the river’s marking points could not be seen. Ferry services were temporarily suspended to avoid accidents,” he said.

Two ferries named Keramat Ali and Bir Shrestha Jahangir are currently anchored in the middle of the river following the suspension, the BIWTC official added.
