Foreign Advisor Touhid Hossain has said he finds “no reason” behind the withdrawal of Indian diplomats’ families from Bangladesh.
Speaking to journalists, Touhid noted that while India has declared certain postings as non‑family assignments before Bangladesh's election period, he does not see any signal or cause for concern.
“It is entirely their own matter. They can ask their employees’ families to leave at any time. But I cannot find any reason for it,” he said.
Touhid stressed that Bangladesh has not witnessed any incidents that would put foreign officials or their families at risk.
“No such event has occurred so far. There is no security situation that warrants such a step,” he added.
He acknowledged that elections in Bangladesh have historically seen minor clashes and scuffles, but insisted this time has been no different.
“I do not think the situation is more serious than before,” he said.
“If they want to take their families back, that is their choice. We have nothing to do about it,” Touhid remarked, reiterating that overall security remains stable.
