Launch services will operate from Bosila and Kanchan Bridge terminals during the Eid travel period to ease congestion at Sadarghat in Dhaka.
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has decided to run several special launches from the two terminals starting Tuesday before Eid-ul-Fitr, the agency said in a media statement on Saturday.
The move aims to reduce pressure on Sadarghat, the capital’s main launch terminal, and ensure safer and smoother travel for homebound passengers.
The services will operate from the launch ghat adjacent to the Bosila Bridge and the Shimulia Tourist Ghat near the Kanchan Bridge in Purbachal.
According to the BIWTA, six launches will depart from Bosila and three from the Shimulia Tourist Ghat daily until the day before Eid.
BIWTA will also provide free porter services at Sadarghat from Mar 17 to Mar 28 for elderly and female passengers to help carry their personal luggage from the terminal to the vessels.
