BGB says it thwarted attempt to push seven people into Bangladesh through Sylhet border

The border troopers say they stepped up surveillance and will raise the incident with the BSF at a flag meeting

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) says it has foiled an alleged attempt by India's Border Security Force to push seven people into Bangladesh through the Sylhet frontier.

The incident occurred at the Kalairag border around 4am on Thursday, said Lt Col Md Nazmul Haque, commander of Sylhet Battalion 48-BGB.

Lt Col Nazmul said, “An attempt was made to push seven people 20 to 25 yards towards Bangladesh from the zero line at the Kalairag border.”

He said they will bring the issue up in a flag meeting with the BSF.

Surveillance has been intensified along the border to prevent such attempted infiltrations, he added.
