Clashes erupt in Uttarkhan between sanitation workers and locals

Clashes have broken out between sanitation workers and local residents in Dhaka's Uttarkhan.

During the incident, allegations emerged that Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan and local MP Jahangir Hossain were attacked after they arrived at the scene to help bring the situation under control.

The information was shared in a statement issued to the media on Sunday by DNCC Public Relations Officer Md Zakir Hossain.

The incident occurred around noon at the Uttarkhan Rajabari Secondary Transfer Station (STS) in Ward No. 46 under DNCC Region-8.

As per the statement, "A group of local criminals launched a sudden attack on DNCC sanitation workers at the Uttarkhan Rajabari STS area. Upon receiving the information, DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan, local MP Jahangir Hossain, and the deputy commissioner of the relevant police division rushed to the scene to bring the situation under control.

"However, the attackers also turned on the administrator and the parliamentarian and assaulted them," the statement said.
