The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has said that due to the active monsoon winds, several places in the country may see moderately heavy to heavy rainfall.
However, there is a slight possibility of heavy rainfall in Dhaka.
Meteorologist Kazi Jebunnesa told bdnews24.com, "There is a possibility of rain across the country. However, the rainfall will be isolated. There may be moderately heavy to heavy rainfall in some places."
Regarding the weather in Dhaka, he said that there will be rain as well. Just as it was drizzling on Wednesday morning, there may be light rain throughout the day. The sky will also remain cloudy.
Stating that there is no possibility of very heavy rain in Dhaka, Jebunnesa said the rain may grow more intense in the evening, but it will remain in the light to moderate range.
In a marine warning, the BMD noted that the well-marked low over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand coast has remained over the same area and is likely to move west-northwest. It may become a low over the next 12 hours.
Due to this, the monsoon is active in the southern part of the country and is fairly active elsewhere.
The forecast for the 24 hours from 9am on Wednesday says that light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds are likely at many places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions.
Along with this, moderate to heavy rain may occur at some places in the country.
Day and night temperatures may remain largely unchanged over the period.
According to the BMD bulletin, the highest rainfall recorded in the country in the 24 hours to 6am on Wednesday was 97mm in Rajshahi. The highest temperature was recorded in Kutubdia, Cox's Bazar, at 33.9 degrees Celsius.
