Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has expressed deep sorrow at the death of former Bangladesh prime minister Khaleda Zia, saying her leadership and sacrifice will be remembered with respect and admiration.
In a condolence message sent to President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, Tebboune conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the government and people of Bangladesh, as well as to Khaleda’s family and supporters.
The Algerian embassy in Dhaka said on Monday that the president recalled Khaleda’s significant contributions to Bangladesh’s democratic journey and her steadfast commitment to the welfare of her people.
“He said her leadership and sacrifice will be remembered with respect and affection,” the embassy statement noted.
Tebboune also praised Khaleda’s role in strengthening bilateral relations between Algeria and Bangladesh during her tenure as prime minister.
He prayed for Khaleda’s eternal peace and for strength to the nation in this moment of grief.
