Police have arrested 11 more people over attacks, vandalism, and arson at the offices of Prothom Alo and The Daily Star in Dhaka.
The Detective Branch arrested nine suspects across the capital on Monday, while Tejgaon Police held two others, according to a media statement issued by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Tuesday.
With the latest, total arrests in the two separate cases rose to 28.
After Inqilab Moncho leader Sharif Osman bin Hadi’s death drew headlines on Thursday, offices of both Prothom Alo and Daily Star were targeted.
The newly arrested are Abdur Rahman, 30, Jannatul Naim, 21, Md Faisal, 24, Qari Muaz Bin Abdul Rahman, 33, Jubayer Hossain, 21, Almas Ali, 29, Julfikar Ali Sourav, Niaz Mahmud, 28, Mohammad Mainul Islam, 22, Md Hashem, 26, and Arafat Yasin, 29.
Earlier on Monday, DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam said at a press conference 17 people had been arrested in connection with the two incidents.
Tejgaon Police received a lawsuit on Sunday night over Prothom Alo attacks, listing 400 to 500 unnamed suspects.
The Daily Star later filed a separate case on Monday evening, accusing 350 to 400 unidentified people.
