Fire breaks out at garments factory, chemical godown in Mirpur

Seven Fire Service units have joined the firefighting effort in stages, with an eighth on the way

Seven firefighting units are attempting to bring a fire that broke out at a godown storing garments and chemicals in the Rupnagar area of Dhaka’s Mirpur under control.

The blaze was reported around 11:40am on Tuesday at the Cosmic Pharma godown, according to Fire Service spokesman Talha Bin Jashim. Fire Service units then arrived at the scene around 11:56am and began work.

Seven units have joined the firefighting effort in stages, with an eighth on the way.

The Fire Service official was unable to confirm how the fire started or whether there have been any casualties.
