The High Court has granted bail to former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Salina Hayat Ivy in two murder cases.

However, she will not be released immediately as she remains under arrest in several other cases, her lawyer said.

The bench of Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher passed the order on Thursday.

Barrister Sara Hossain, Advocate Motahar Hossain Saju, and Advocate SM Hridoy represented Ivy during the hearing.

“The High Court has granted Salina Hayat Ivy bail in two cases today. However, she cannot be released immediately as she remains under arrest in other cases,” said Advocate Saju following the order.

The two murder cases were filed with Siddhirganj Police Station on Sept 11, 2024 and Jun 30, 2025.

Police later sought to show Ivy arrested in the cases, and the Narayanganj Chief Judicial Magistrates’ Court approved the petitions on Mar 2 and Apr 12.

The High Court has now granted her bail in both cases.

Police arrested Ivy from her residence “Chunka Kutir” in Narayanganj City's Deobhog on May 9, 2025.

She was initially shown arrested in five cases linked to the July Uprising, including three murder cases and two attempted murder cases.

After being denied bail by a lower court, Ivy moved the High Court, which granted her bail in those five cases.

However, the Appellate Division later stayed the bail following a state appeal.

She was then shown arrested in five more cases on Nov 18 last year.

On Feb 26 this year, the High Court granted her bail in those cases as well, but the Appellate Division later stayed those orders too after an appeal by the state.
