Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has visited an army officer being treated at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka after a field firing accident in Chattogram's Hathazari.
The premier went to CMH on Friday, his Deputy Press Secretary Md Suzuaddhowla said.
He said Tarique inquired about the officer’s physical condition, spoke with his family members, and offered them words of encouragement.
Army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman accompanied him during the visit.
The prime minister wished the injured soldier a swift and full recovery and ordered officials to ensure he received proper treatment, the press aide added.
A sudden accident occurred on Wednesday during a tank firing exercise as part of a field firing drill by the Bangladesh Army in Hathazari.
Two army members were killed and one officer critically injured in the incident.
The injured officer was subsequently admitted to CMH for advanced treatment.
The deputy press secretary said the prime minister had already expressed “deep” sorrow over the deaths of the two soldiers killed in the accident and conveyed condolences to their families.
