No one has been arrested yet over the murder of a man in an explosion of a crude bomb hurled from the Moghbazar flyover.

Ali Akbar, the father of the victim, Siam Mazumder, 20, filed a case against unidentified miscreants on Thursday, a day after he lost his son on Wednesday.

Hatirjheel Police chief Golam Mortuza confirmed the filing of the case.

“We don’t have a suspect yet. Different agencies of police are working to analyse evidence, including CCTV footage, to find suspects,” said Mortuza.

The incident occurred around 7:30pm on Wednesday beneath the flyover in front of the gate of the Muktijoddha Central Command Council.

The site is located in an alley housing two buildings of the AG Church and AG Church School.

The crude bomb hit Siam directly in the head, killing him on the spot, police said.

Siam was the eldest son of the family, which migrated from Khulna’s Sigholia four years ago to Dhaka. The family has been living in New Eskaton. Akbar is a rickshaw puller.

Siam’s family was being taken to Khulna for burial on Thursday evening.

Akbar recalled the incident, saying he was shutting down his rickshaw garage around 8pm when he received the news that something had happened to his eldest son.

He discovered Siam in a pool of blood and dead.

Siam worked at a car workshop.
