Gas supply will be suspended for eight hours in Basabo, Khilgaon, Shahjahanpur and several other areas of Dhaka on Thursday.
Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company will suspend the supply for valve installation on both sides of the railway tracks at Shahjahanpur rail crossing, as well as tie-in work to relocate a distribution line for the Dhaka Elevated Expressway project.
The state-owned gas distributor said on Wednesday that the supply will remain suspended from 1pm to 9pm on Thursday in Basabo, Khilgaon, Madartek, Shahjahanpur, Sipahibagh, Tilpapara, Malibagh, Shantibagh and Taltala Market.
Gas supply to all residential and commercial customers in these areas will remain suspended during this period.
Gas pressure may also fall in nearby areas, Titas said.
The company apologised to customers for the temporary inconvenience.
Gas supply has previously been suspended in Dhaka and other areas under Titas's network for pipeline relocation linked to development projects.
In April, Titas suspended gas supply for 24 hours in parts of Ashulia and Savar for emergency pipeline relocation work linked to the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway project.
In July, gas supply was suspended for eight hours in parts of Hatirpool and Dhanmondi to replace old distribution and service lines.
Meanwhile, several areas under Titas have recently been experiencing low gas pressure amid a supply shortage.
On Sept 7, Prime Minister's Economic and Planning Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir said daily gas demand in Bangladesh was around 3.8 billion cubic feet, while supply stood at 2.6 billion to 2.7 billion cubic feet.
He expressed hope that the situation would return to normal within a few days.
