Fire breaks out at restaurant in Uttara shopping mall

A fire has broken out at a restaurant on the fourth floor of the six-storey Centre Point shopping mall in Dhaka’s Uttara, near the airport.

Six units from the Uttara and Airport fire stations rushed to the spot to bring the blaze under control after it was reported at 12:45pm on Wednesday.

The Fire Service said the firefighters arrived around 1:05pm and attempted to tame the blaze. 

Talha bin Zasim, station officer and spokesman for Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, said: “The fire was brought under control at 1:40pm following efforts by six units from the Uttara and Airport fire stations.”

“The Fire Service is still continuing activities at the scene. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage have yet to be confirmed.”
