Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his greetings on the occasion of the Islamic festival of Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
In a post from his verified Facebook account, he wrote: “Eid Mubarak!
“Greetings on Milad-un-Nabi. I hope this occasion furthers togetherness and joy all around us. May the spirit of kindness and giving back to society always guide us.”
Bangladesh is celebrating Eid-e-Miladunnabi on Wednesday. The Islamic Foundation has organised a 15-day-long Sirat-un-Nabi programme for the occasion.
Bangladesh’s relations with India have hit a nadir after the political changeover during the July Uprising. Now that a BNP government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has come to power, India is pursuing a new strategy to restore ties.
Since the election, both New Delhi and Dhaka have been sending messages to advance relations in different ways. Modi has extended his Eid-e-Miladunnabi greetings amid this backdrop.
