Former MP Kamal Mojumder's son arrested on ‘murder, terrorism’ charges

Police say the charges against Shaheed Ahmed Mojumder include murder during the anti-discrimination movement

Shaheed Ahmed Mojumdar, the youngest son of former MP Kamal Ahmed Mojumder, has been arrested by police on charges of murder and terrorism.

He was taken into custody near the Police Plaza in Gulshan at around 10pm on Saturday, said Hafizur Rahman, chief of Gulshan Police.

Shahid is facing charges in two cases: a murder case related to the Anti-discrimination Student Movement in Mirpur and an anti-terrorism case filed with Gulshan Police.

Kamal, a former MP for Dhaka-15, was arrested in Gulshan on Oct 19, 2024, and has been in jail since.
