The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has unveiled the cause behind a farmer’s death in Rangamati, five months after he went missing.

The PBI Chattogram shared the details of the incident on Sunday.

According to the PBI, the farmer’s wife Kohinur Akhter killed Didarul Alam by suffocating him after mixing sleeping pills in his milk when he discovered her extramarital affair.

With her lover’s help, she later disposed of the body.

Didarul, 38, from West Kodala village in Rangamati’s Kaptai Upazila, had been missing for about five months before the PBI uncovered the case.

The four arrested are Kohinur, 25, her two alleged lovers Abdul Khalek, 30, and Md Hamza, 25, and Hamza's associate Selim, 25.

The PBI says Didarul had been missing since May 7. His father Jamir Hossain filed a general diary (GD) at Chandraghona Police Station in Kaptai.

However, when Didarul could not be found, he filed an abduction case against Kohinur and Khalek.

Police officer Abu Jafar said Kohinur killed her husband on Jun 30.

According to police, Hamza, Selim, and Kohinur dumped the body in the Kodala canal, where it was swept away by strong currents during heavy rain.

Police officer Omar Faruk said Kohinur confessed in court on Oct 9 to killing her husband and disposing of the body.

Based on her information, Hamza and Selim were arrested in Chattogram’s Rangunia, and they later confessed to their involvement in court.
