A case has been initiated against about 2,000 people in Sylhet’s Companiganj Upazila on charges of looting stones from stone quarries.
On Friday, the Bureau of Mineral Development (BMD) Director General Md Anwarul Habib filed the case as the plaintiff.
In the complaint, all accused are listed as “unidentified”. They are alleged to have looted stones worth millions of taka from the quarries in Bholaganj.
Companiganj Police Station chief Uzayer Al Mahmud Adnan said, “The case has been filed under the mineral resources development and control law. A manhunt will be launched to arrest the suspects.”
