Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has held a meeting with leading business figures to discuss barriers to investment and broader trade and commerce issues in Bangladesh.

The meeting began at 11:30am at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Tejgaon and concluded around 2:30pm.

Following the session, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury briefed reporters, saying the prime minister sought direct feedback from the private sector on the challenges they face.

"The prime minister listened to the business leaders to understand exactly where the barriers to investment lie," the finance minister said.

"He wants these issues resolved quickly. Some solutions were provided ‘on the spot’, while others will be settled through further discussion."

The discussions also focused on the revival of shuttered factories.

"We talked about how to restart closed units, including state-owned enterprises. Beyond new projects, the goal is to breathe life back into existing idle industries," Khosru added.

Addressing a query on energy support, he noted that multilateral bodies are extending significant cooperation to the government.
