Testimonies have begun in three corruption cases initiated by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, Rehana’s daughter Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, and Azmina Siddique.

The cases focus on allegations of fraudulent allocation of a 30-katha plot in the Purbachal New Town Project.

On Wednesday, plaintiffs in all three cases testified before Judge Md Rabiul Alam of Dhaka’s Special Judge Court.

The witnesses were ACC Deputy Director Md Salahuddin, Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya, and Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan.

Mir Ahmed Ali Salam, public prosecutor for the national anti-graft agency confirmed that the next date for witness testimony in the cases has been scheduled for Aug 28.

The hearing began at 10:50am, with all three witnesses testifying in sequence and concluding by 2:45pm.
